Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q.
What about parking?
A.
There is plenty of free parking. Just follow the signs!
Q.
What is the weather like? What kind of clothing should I bring?
A.
May is right at the cusp of the rainy season which usually starts in June. Temperature will be warm, short-sleeve weather but bring a light wrap or jacket for a possible cooler evening and air conditioned rooms. Festival is definitely casual and upbeat with an emphasis on sun protection. Lightweight long-sleeve shirts work great for protecting arms and neck and a brimmed hat for face. It could rain at any time.
Q.
What happens if I buy a lot of plants and don’t want to carry them while I shop?
A.
There is a plant sitting tent! For a small donation leave your plants there.
Q.
I am visiting from Colombia. Will I be able to bring any plants home?
A.
You bet! There is a USDA inspection station where you can get your phyto certificate.
Q.
Is the food any good or is it just “fair food?”
A.
The food is great! You can find anything from Jamaican jerk chicken to roasted corn and burgers.
Q.
What orchids will be in bloom for the festival?
A.
Expect to see late spring and early summer species. Watch the slide show on our judging page for a sampling of orchids previously awarded at the festival.
